El viaje a Mountain con Peter Freestone

Era un día nublado y lluvioso. Subía al tren. Estaba sólo a 400 km de mi destino. Un sueño para todo verdadero fan….Pero tuve que transbordar 4 o 5 veces, no obstante me parecía muy emocionante :-)

Asi que durante todo el recorrido escuché música de Freddie en mi reproductor de mp3. Sentía una enorme emoción al sólo pensar que al fin vería ese mágico lugar , y que iba a conocer a Peter Freestone quien durante tanto tiempo acompañó a Freddie , incluso en sus últimos días…

A pesar de haber tenido un incidente al abordar uno de los trenes, finalmente llegué a Montreux.

Como sabía que la estatua de Freddie estaba muy cerca de mi hotel, lo primero que hice al llegar fue buscarlo junto al lago. No estaba muy lejos, pero no estaba totalmente segura de su ubicación. Me invadía una gran incertidumbre. ¿Qué iba a encontrar allí?

Y entonces tuve una corazonada, sí, si sigo derecho, llegaré al lugar indicado…Cada paso representaba una pequeña aventura .Veré a Freddie Mercury…

Y lo encontré, ví la estatua…

No hay palabras que describan lo que sentí.

Probablemente la frase “al fin en casa.”

(Pensé) “Aquí esta, permanece aquí, y en este momento existe cierta conexión entre nosotros. Pude cristalizar lo que tanto anhelé durante tantos años”.

Fui al hotel y regresé donde estaba la estatua. Uno puede sentarse allí y ver pasar a la gente. Quienes no tienen idea quién es, perciben algo especial en él…También hay quien siente exactamente lo mismo que yo por Freddie. Ví un par de este tipo de personas: a un chico con un ramo de rosas rojas que caminó conmovido hacia la estatua y lo dejó al pie de ésta, y a una chica joven (como yo :-) ). Me sentí muy conmovida al ver a esta chica. Primero pensé que yo iba a llorar al ver la estatua, pero no fue así. Pero, al ver a esta chica, sí lloré, porque su mirada reflejaba lo mismo que yo siento por Freddie…

Fue maravilloso.

Al día siguiente conocí a Peter Freestone. Es una persona muy amable. En su mirada también puedes ver el gran cariño que le tiene a Freddie. Pero su vínculo con él es de cierta forma distinto al de nosotros.

Me encantó estar con Peter. Realmente no presté mucha atención a lo que nos dijo, ¡aunque era muy interesante!...Los últimos días de Freddie en Montreux... Ya no pudo cantar de pie. Tenía que sentarse y grabar en el cubículo del técnico , porque ya no podía subir escaleras. Estaba muy débil…Pero canto. Y llegó al estudio, fue allí tantas veces como pudo. Los últimos días lo llevaron en auto 3 o cuatro veces al día, y tomaba varios recesos.

Fue muy conmovedor escuchar este relato directamente de Peter Freestone. Freddie fue una persona verdaderamente excepcional.

...Guardo magníficos recuerdos de ese corto viaje.

Y comprendo muy bien el que todos anhelen ir allí todas las veces que puedan. Hasta ahora no he podido regresar, ¡pero en un futuro lo haré!

Y mi corazón está allí. Espero que disfruten las fotos que tomé. Me encantan las imágenes de su rostro, de su chamarra …¡todas! Me hacen sentir tan cerca de él.

De todas formas, todo el que vaya allí dejará su amor a esta increíble persona al pie de su estatua.

Y estamos y estaremos unidos a él. También a través de este lugar mágico.

Montreux 2009

The Mountain Tour with Peter Freestone

It was a cloudy and rainy day. I got into the train. Only 400 km to my goal. A dream for a real fan. …But I had to change the train 4 or 5 times, it was quite exciting for me. :-)

So, a lot of time with my mp3-player and Freddies music. And total excitement. To see this magical place. And to meet Peter Freestone who accompanied Freddie for so many years and the final days…

After the happy instance loosing the train I thought it would be the right one but was the false, I finally got to Montreux.

Knowing, my Hotel is near to Freddie’s statue, I searched first for the see-coast. Not far, but in a big insecurity. Amazing. What will I find there?

And then, I felt, yes I have to go straight on and I will find the right place… Every step a little adventure. I will see Freddie Mercury…

And I found the place. And saw the statue…

No words can describe this feeling.

Perhaps this: “Finally At Home”

He is here, he stays here and we are connected now. What I searched for, such a long time…

To the hotel, and back to the statue. You can sit there and watch the people. People who don’t really know who he is, but who feel, there is something special about him…. And people who feel absolutely the same I feel about him. I saw two such persons. A boy with red roses. Very moved walking to his statue and laying them down to Freddie’s feets… And a young girl (just like me :-) ). To follow this girl was so moving for me. I first thought I would start to cry when I see the statue. But I did’t. But I did, as I watched this girl. I saw in her eyes exactly the same feelings for him, as I have….

Fantastic.

Then, the next day, meeting Peter Freestone. Such a gentle person. Also in his eyes you can see the pure love to Freddie. But he has slightly another connection to him as we have…

I loved being together with Peter. Didn’t really matter what he told us, even it is was really interesting!

...Freddie’s final days in Montreux... He wasn’t able to sing upright. He had to sit down and he had to record in the room of the technician, because he wasn’t able to go upstairs. He was too fragile… But he sang. And he got there, at the studio, as often as he could. The last days he was driven 3-4 times the day there, after having some breaks for resting…

So moving to hear that from Peter Freestone. Freddie was such an impressive person.

And I absolutely understand the love to be there as often as you can. I wasn’t able to go there again, but I will! And in my heart I am there. I hope you enjoy the pictures I took. I love the pictures of his face and jacket and all this, it feels to be very close to him.

Anyway, anybody who goes there, will bring some of your love to this great person, up to his statue.

And we are and will stay connected with him. Also through this magical place…
